Middle School Library

Middle School library with books on bookshelves and work tables

Welcome to the Middle School library!

In the Middle School library, students can access a variety of resources for reading, researching, and creating. Our book collection reflects the diverse interests and experiences of our school community. We guide students in finding and using the best sources of information for their research needs. The library is also home to 3D printers, a laser engraver, and other makerspace tools for staff and students to use for creative outputs for their learning.

Our professional teacher-librarian follows standards from the Ohio Library Guidelines for Learners, and the American Association of School Libraries Standards Framework for Learners while supporting the curriculum framework of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.  These practices help establish the library as a hub of learning for the entire school community.

We look forward to sharing the many ways the Middle School library program can support students pursuing their interests and academic needs.

Meet Our LIbrary Staff

Teacher-Librarian

Mr. Robert Kaminski

Portrait of Robert Kaminski

Welcome to the library!  My name is Mr. Kaminski and I enjoy being a teacher-librarian at Shaker Heights Middle School. I graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and a minor in Environmental Studies. I went to Kent State University and received my Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science.

I love to get to know students and make connections between their personal interests and their school projects. I like to support students and staff in finding creative ways to explore and show our learning together.
