School Counseling
Curriculum Night Resources
Our school counseling program is comprehensively designed to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of students at each grade level. The school counselor acts as a resource person; a coordinator between teachers, parents and students; and as an advisor to the student. Each student is assigned to a counselor and remains with that counselor, allowing them to establish a working relationship. Counselors seek to understand the expectations and concerns of both students and parents and work together closely to make the school experience a rich and rewarding one for each student.
School counselors positively impact student academic and social/emotional development in many ways, including:
- Providing student-centered & brief solution-focused individual and small group counseling.
- Acting as a liaison between the home, school, and community agencies/providers.
- Promoting positive school culture and climate through various awareness activities.
- Providing students and families with support services and other community resources.
-
Working collaboratively with parents and staff to plan students' academic program and schedule.
-
Working with teachers and parents to provide helpful suggestions to support academic success and well being.
