School Counseling
Our school counseling program is comprehensively designed to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of students at each grade level.
The school counselor acts as a resource person; a coordinator between teachers, parents and students; and as an advisor to the student. Each student is assigned to a counselor and remains with that counselor, allowing them to establish a working relationship. Counselors seek to understand the expectations and concerns of both students and parents and work together closely to make the school experience a rich and rewarding one for each student.
School counselors positively impact student academic and social/emotional development in many ways, including:
- Providing student-centered & brief solution-focused individual and small group counseling.
- Acting as a liaison between the home, school, and community agencies/providers.
- Promoting positive school culture and climate through various awareness activities.
- Providing students and families with support services and other community resources.
-
Working collaboratively with parents and staff to plan students' academic program and schedule.
-
Working with teachers and parents to provide helpful suggestions to support academic success and well being.
